Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot 

The Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot was established in 1994.  It has become the world’s second largest moot competition, with participants from about 300 law schools from about 80 countries annually.  The competition is based upon topical issues of international commercial sales and arbitration law, which are framed as issues to be resolved before an arbitral panel. 

Whilst pre-moot competitions are held across the world, the official competition is held in Vienna, Australia.

Teams from UQ have been competing in the Vis moot annually since 2015 and have won competition on two occasions.

For many years, the UQ team in this moot was coached by Professor Gabriel Moens, a specialist in this area.
