Overview

The Macrossan Lectures are annual public lectures, hosted by the University of Queensland, which deal with subjects of public importance.

This lecture series was established at the University of Queensland on 7 August 1925, in memory of John Murtagh Macrossan - a Queensland parliamentarian, who was prominent in the movement for Australian Federation.

The original series of lectures ran from 1928 to 1993.

The lecture series was revived in 2023, by the UQ Law School and the UQLA.

Macrossan Lectures are now held annually in the Banco Court of the Supreme Court of Queensland at the beginning of the academic year.   The lectures are recorded and published.
