Our Graduates

In 1938, the new Law School at the University of Queensland awarded its first Bachelor of Laws degrees.

There were only three students in the graduating class – Una Bick, Lex Dunn and Lionel Morrison.

Since 1938, over 11,000 law students have graduated from the Law School.

Many have pursued careers that have made a significant contribution to public life in Australia -  in the legislature, the judiciary, the universities and in public administration.

The history of the foundation and development of the Law School, with a list of its graduates, is recorded in Dr Michael White’s  TC Beirne School of Law: A History (2nd Ed, 2016).  To order a copy of this book, please see the attached form.

Over time, the UQLA is hoping to develop an online database of alumni – including a facility for members to include their current contact details.

In the meantime, the following lists of alumni have been extracted from Dr White’s work and from more recent graduation records.

Because of the size and age of this dataset, it is possible that these lists may contain errors or omissions.  We would be most grateful to learn of any such errors or omissions so we can make any necessary corrections.
